SEMS

SEMS represents a strategic and tactical ISR asset, providing timely and reliable Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) information to support the continuous development and updating of the National Electronic Order of Battle (EOB) and Electronic Intelligence Database (EIDB). Its space-based architecture enables Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities in a secure, responsive, and cost-effective manner.

The first SEMS system was successfully launched aboard a satellite manufactured by the Korean company Satrec Initiative for an undisclosed international customer. Building on this success, recently a second SEMS payload has been launched for another international customer, where it is demonstrating excellent operational performance, delivering accurate, reliable, and effective ELINT data.

Nano-SEMS

Following the extensive experience and know-how acquired through the SEMS project, VirtuaLabs is developing the Nano-SEMS constellation, a distributed SIGINT system composed of three or more nanosatellites flying in a controlled formation. The satellites are separated by a predefined baseline, enabling unprecedented emitter characterization performance together with highly accurate geolocation capabilities through multi-platform signal processing.

The Nano-SEMS system consists of:

  • a Space Segment, comprising three or more nanosatellites equipped with SIGINT payloads;

  • a Ground Segment, including a Ground Control Station (GCS) responsible for mission planning, constellation monitoring and control, payload tasking, data reception, and advanced signal processing.  Furthermore, the Ground Segment performs centralized emitters extraction, emitters identification, and emitters geolocation by combining data collected from all satellites.

Acting as Prime Contractor, VirtuaLabs can provides for Nano-SEMS a complete turnkey solution, covering and managing the entire mission lifecycle, including:

  • Satellite-bus acquisition and payload development,

  • System integration

  • Launch service through selected provider

  • Ground segment deployment

  • Commissioning

  • Mission preparation and Mission analysis
